I’ve been taking a lot of time for myself lately to enjoy this stage of life and to be 24 and thriving, but all this living has brought some exciting news and great changes. Today I finally get to tell you some big news and touch on some of the things I’ve been up to outside of my blog!
Currently reading: I don’t have a ton of time to be reading right now especially because I have a devotional that I do in the morning and all sorts of activities in the afternoon, but I’m hooked on a couple podcasts that I listen to while I’m driving for work. My current favorites are Here to Make Friends (guilty pleasure) and Blissful Bites.
Currently listening: Paul Simon radio on Pandora. It’s like the best mix of him, Tracy Chapman, James Taylor, and everything good in the world.
Currently drinking: Americanos. I’m literally addicted and if anyone could do me a big one and donate a personal espresso machine right to my door step, I’d be super appreciative.
Current guilty pleasure: Paleo pancakes and fancy cocktails. I don’t know what’s up with me and paleo pancakes right now, but I’ve officially made 15 different recipes and someones got to keep each batch from going to waste. Mark and I went to go visit his sister at Ole Miss this weekend and I ordered and drank all the excessively fancy cocktails, but have you ever been to Oxford? I was just trying to fit in.
Currently eating: I’m obsessed with RX bars, but I really love them because they’re very satisfying and not overly sweet. If I had to eat 1 bar based solely on taste, I’d probably choose Quest bars, but I stopped eating them because I don’t really trust bars that taste that good and have zero sugar. They don’t really make sense to me and they’re so sweet that they make me crave sugar for the rest of the day.
I’m also on a big arugula kick (sorry, kale) and developed this recipe for our local health and fit magazine. Those are spiralized apples on top and I even splurged for some goat cheese.
Currently new-to-me item/activity: I’ve been working out a lot more and have even made a couple appearances at the gym this month, which is very unheard of for me.
Currently needing: A roommate and to move downtown. Mark started renting an amazing lofted apartment and it makes me want to be down there so badly especially with the weather getting better and lots of fun events coming up.
Current workout: SO much running. I’m terribly out of shape as far as speed goes, but I’m been upping my milage and getting in about 45 miles a week. I did 4.5 last Sunday, 8 on Monday, 5 on Tuesday, 8 on Wednesday, 7 on Thursday, 3 on Friday, and 12 on Saturday.
Current blessing: I’ve been dying to announce this news for a while now, but I had to wait until everything was official. I got a new job! It’s a really long story, but I haven’t been very happy in the job I’ve been in this past year. It involved constant driving around the really unsafe parts of Memphis where I’d witness at least 1-2 wrecks a day. I was always dodging cars that I swear were just out to kill me and I also didn’t have much direction or responsibility, which isn’t the best environment for me. I was contacted over LinkedIn for a position I hadn’t even applied for just seeing if I’d be interested in hearing more and I interviewed for and was offered the job only a few days later. I was working with people with developmental disabilities as their Recreational Therapy Consultant (I love my clients so much and it’s going to be really really hard to leave them) and now I’m going to be moving to a directors position working with more geriatric populations in a skilled and rehab facility. I’ll have a ton of responsibility and be incredibility busy, but there’s also a lot of potential for growth and space to do a lot of good.
Current feeling: Spring fever so hard. I want sunshine and to drink wine outside on a patio every day for the rest of my life.
Current excitement: I’m starting my new job on the 29th, which is very exciting but I also get to go home to Nashville that weekend and spend Easter with my parents.
