2015 was a year of many firsts and many exciting things. Yes, there were some let downs like that time I got my hair highlighted or the world’s worst long run, but there was also plenty to celebrate and I think it’s important to do so before moving forward. Speaking of moving forward, I also may or may not have made a virtual manifestation board for 2016. Is that a thing?
Started a new job
Last year before Christmas I got laid off of my first job after 5 months because they closed the facility (yes, they hired me knowing it was closing). It was a huge blow, but God is good and I had another job immediately with a raise and much more flexibility!
Did my first Whole30
Created this blog
I started this blog in June. My first post was tiny and timid, but you can only go up, right? I had been dreaming about it for years and finally mustarded up the courage to go for it and I’m so happy I did.
Made new friends
Memphis was kind of a lonely city since I grew up in Nashville and moved here out of college, but this year I’ve made so many friends in and outside of the running community and a couple of my best friends from college are here now too.
I move more than anyone I know, but this time I moved a mile away for 10 months and then I moved right back. Currently, I live with my sister and her husband, which sounds weird but it’s actually amazing.
Being a young working adult with no financial responsibilities is definitely not without it’s perks.
In January I went with my roommate at the time and our boy friends to New Orleans for no reason than because it’s only 5 hours away and it’s so fun. I went out of my way to eat 4 meals every day to assure that I got all the cajun food I needed.
Over the 4th of July, I went with my best friends and college roommates to Destin and it was maybe one of the most fun and relaxing weekends ever.
Over Labor Day, my parents took us to Rosemary Beach for one of the most luxurious vacations I’ve had.
On the weekends I wasn’t running, Mark and I took frequent trips to his lake house thats only 1.5 hrs away.

The closest thing to viral
I posted about my opinion on racing weight and it’s gotten the largest amount of views that anything on my site. It’s amazing to see that its as big of an issue for other people as it was for me!
I joined the Bloggers Gonna Blog community and it has seriously helped transformed my blog and the way I do it. Everyone is so supportive. I can ask anything in the group and get help immediately. Like that one time my comments were disabled and Julia helped me fix it.
My cousin Anna loaned me her really nice DSLR camera and even though I barely know how to work it, my photography has improved drastically on my recipes!

Favorite Running Posts
I know, longest post ever, but didn’t I promise you a manifestation board? I really don’t even know what that is, but I got it from this Roomie Video that my college roommate has sent to me on 10 different occasions and it’s hilarious. They start to make a “vision board” and then he says, “if its a vision we might not achieve it, if it’s a manifestation we have to do it.” (laughing/crying emoji)
Manifestations for 2016
- Get back into triathalons
- Actually use my YMCA membership for strength training and to swim
Especially because I look really good when I swim
- Start writing training plans for my blog
I’ve been writing training plans for friends and family for a long time and I love doing it to be more involved with people’s running journeys. Just recently I did my Y&R reader survey and there were an overwhelming amount of you that said you’d like me to start doing training plans. Right now I’ve been working with Kellen to reach her goal of breaking 2:00 in the half. If all goes well, I plan to start offering very affordable training plans through my blog this next year!
- Reconnect with my Fleet Feet run groups
I used to run with Fleet Feet at least twice a week, but it’s honestly just been easier to run right after I get home from work and start cooking dinner than to wait around till 6 and have no idea when to eat, but I need it for the fun and the community.
- Continue with my big blog goals and further my involvement with the BGB community
- Break 1:30 in the half marathon
I worked towards that this year, but fell short by less than a minute!
- Invest myself in my church
- Try to be more of a girl… maybe.
