Welcome to the 5th edition of Soundtrack to my weekend where I put lyrics to my pictures so make my life sound more interesting. This weekend was New Years, but that was definitely not the highlight seeing as though I sat on the couch with my parents, but stay tuned I’m finally showing you my running schedule.
I had to work on New Years Eve, but Mark and I drove to Nashville when I got off. I think we intended to go out, but we got there pretty late so we stayed in and drank wine with my parents. The next day we drove to Louisville to visit our friend in the hospital. I found this in the world’s best gas station that also had fruit, veggies, and a ton of healthy snacks.
We got to Louisville a little after lunch and went straight to the hospital to find all of Mark’s fraternity brothers there visiting too. I didn’t realize I was crashing a boys weekend, but luckily one of my past roommates came up that night so I got to hang out and catch up with her for a little bit.
Mark and I went out to a great dinner at North End Cafe, which was a perfect restaurant suggestion from Laura. I got Chicken Curry and Mark got Stir-fry and they were both amazing.
When we got back to our friend’s apartment, the guys made a trip to Walmart so they could go out in white velcro shoes. It was hysterical, but they obviously didn’t meet anyone.
We went downtown to 4th Street Live and let’s just say that there was some priiiime people watching going on. You’re welcome for the high quality picture by the way.
We drove back to Nashville Saturday afternoon. Mark does this thing where he steals my scarves for road trip naps, but I don’t think he really understands how they work.
Hello, running, it’s me Margaret. Okay that’s starting to sound like a Judy Bloom book, but I’ve been kind of sick all week so this was the first time I’ve run since last weekend. Luckily we didn’t miss a beat.
Side note because I know a lot of you wear the Brooks Pureflows too:
I go the new Pureflow5’s and I’m actually not crazy about them. They’ve had trouble with the tongue and tried to fix it with each update, but this tongue is by far the worst. The last ones would sink back into the laces so they made this longer and it cuts my ankles. They completely re-did the shoe and I like the updated sole, plus they’re insanely light, but the toe box is still very narrow and they got rid of the nav band, which I don’t mind either way. Brooks, if you’re listening I vote that you return to the attached tongue from the 2’s and 3’s. Over all, I’ll definitely keep wearing them, but I’ll also probably try to look for something else for the rotation and be excited for the 6’s.
After my run, we went to church and then got back on the road to Memphis. I went to yoga for runners at Fleet Feet and was pleasantly reminded that I’m a wound-up runner. I’m so bad that I had to use two blocks for a couple poses.
I spent Sunday night grocery shopping and meal prepping because today I start my second Whole30!!! And I found these La Croix bottles at Sprouts and about died.
Last but not least, I made myself a training plan since I am no longer working with a coach. I also made a New Years Resolution of getting back to my group stuff with Fleet Feet and I must say it looks like I’m doing a pretty good job with that.
How was your New Years?
Have you made strides with any resolutions?
Whats your latest grocery store find that you’re obsessed with?
